Description

I designed this Spool Adapter for the Bambu Lab AMS for my eSUN cardboard spools, since none of the other adapters currently available fit it properly. This design utilizes the holes of the carboard spools to help lock the adapter in place as well as an anti-slip lip at the top (prints without supports) that will prevent the adapter from coming loose inside the AMS. I exported this as a high quality STL and as a result the curves on the outside have no flat edges and will spin easily inside the AMS. The model only uses 8g of filament.

If you have issues with fitting please let me know in the comments. It's possible eSUN cardboard spools are different between types and I cannot realistically test every spool. If it works for you, please let me know in the comments what type of eSUN filament your cardboard spool is for.

Check out my other cardboard spool adapters!

Will the AMS lid close with this adapter?

Yes it will, I’m running a print in my AMS right now with an eSun spool and the adapter inside. (it’s the one with the red adapter)

You must be lucky, doesn't work fo rme with a new AMS - the spool is too tall so lid cannot be closed. Don't want to raise the lid so I'll have to respool by the look of it.

how weird, according to the AMS dimensions it should fit. sorry for your troubles

Nice upload, thank you, works perfectly, not sure what "northernSG007" was doing, most likely used the incorrect system settings!

Printed two adapters, one with Bambulab PLA Tough, one with Tinmorry PLA. The first one is slightly too big, the second one fits perfectly. Seems to be depended on the filament, nothing a drop of super glue cannot fix ;-) Used the original settings of the creator on an X1C. One question though: Why not use the "lock" on both sides? Would make it even more stable, wouldn't it?

it would be more stable, but then you wouldn’t be able to use the holes to hold your filament. I’ve found just the single pair of holes is enough to keep it on.

Yeah, you are right - I did not thought about this.

a few corners seemed thin and separated when I removed from the build plate, but still functioned for my rolls. quick print but likely a one time use per roll.

100% agree, that was my problem with the first one I printed ;). second one was a little better but still started separating when I put it on the roll….right by the knobs that fit into the esun holes.

Printed great in PETG, fits the esun nicely. I used superglue to stick it to the cardboard.
