Description

This adapter allows you to use Meta Quest 2 head straps with the new Quest 3.

Instructions:

Download 'no loop Meta Quest 3 Head Strap adapter v4.3mf" and print with supports.

  • For extra safety, you can put a cable tie around it, it is the default version. See last image.
  • Download raw file for the one without the loops.
  • If it clips on too tight, reduce flow ratio or flow rate multiplier in your slicer by 5-10%. If too loose, increase flow rate.

I will continue to improve it's durability as I use it myself. Be sure download the latest files before printing.

Enjoy,
Haydn Bao

[UPDATE] - V5 STEP version uploaded.

From v4 to v5, the geometry updates are minor. There's just a few extra fillets. Between space confinements and tolerance differences of everyone's printers, v4 is working quite well according to feedback. So v4 is still the default print file.

For those new to cad, you can upload this into a free cad like fusion360, disable capture design history, and edit all it's dimensions like thicknesses and radii etc using 'q' push command.

Here were some considerations I had when tweaking it:

- If it's thickened too much, it won't flex as easy and bulge the side arms more.
- If you twist the model in 3D, it won't have a good print orientation that prints as strong.
- If you remove the slots. The body isn't weak enough to twist to conform.

This didn’t fit the meta or the razer straps for me. It’s slightly too large to fit them.

I used the P1S I’ll try a 97% scale. but that’ll probably not work because it’ll be too small for the quest 3 end

That is one of the issues I am having, still messing with scale but at 98.5% I can get it to fit the Quest 2 elite strap no issues but its to small for the quest 3. Trying one more at 99% and hope it still fits the strap. I started off with 100% but it was to big for the strap and it would not stay attached to the quest 3, it kept popping off since there is a slight curve to the headset.

Thank you for the design. I printed it with semi flexible resin and it works very well and very tightly with a random Chinese Quest 2 strap.

works like a charm for me! to bad the headstrap is a bit wider now and my wife has difficulties to get it properly fixed on her head. ive printed it first with petg, which broke due to bad layer adhesion (maybe it can be strengthened a bit), so i reprinted it with pla, which works better for me.

Printed it with different fill factors but didn't quite work my 3rd Party Elite Strap of my quest 2. However the design seems to be great and to work with other straps, so I am still rewarding 5 Stars.

I have an odd request, would it be possible to make the reverse? be able to use the Quest 3 strap on the Quest 2? I ask so I can just swap my Quest 2 and Quest 3 as I don't have the original Quest 2 strap anymore. 😅

Why to do so? The Quest 3 battery has higher voltage delivery, but half the battery size. Quest 2 strap has 4676 mAh @ 5.00V that delivers 18Wh. Quest 3 strap has 2330 mAh @ 7.68V that delivers 17.9Wh. So Quest 3 battery strap gives more power, but has less energy.

no no, I'm talking about using the stock strap that comes with the quest 3. I want to put my Quest 2 battery strap onto my quest 3 and take my quest 3 non battery strap and put it on my Quest 2
