Description

Easy to print honey spoon. No support needed. If you wish, you can also print without infill. I printed the prototypes from pla filament, but I recommend using a more heat-resistant filament. Don't leave the spoon in the hot drink though :D

A word about design. I could have done the slanted thread upside down and printed the piece upside down as well, but I think the upward slanted thread works better because when using a spoon, the honey flows into the cup better. Even when stored on the table, the remaining honey does not drip and make a mess. However, there is a small dilemma here. The spoon should be clean when stored upright :)

I hope you like this design and I hope you comment how this works for you. Thank you!

Very nice model. Printed great. Minor over hang issues. But overall a good one.

Thanks! Good color! 😊 There are some small printing challenges here (overhangs, height), but fortunately this is not an overhang test model 😄 Material and speed also affect the final result. When I have time to focus on this model, I might change the geometry in some places so that the overhangs are reduced, but the design will not change. I could also try how a bigger nozzle affects the matter.

this printed well for the most part. but I need to do some research as to why the over hangs were soo rough.

Thank you for your comment! You could try another 0.8 mm printing profile. It might work better with the material you are using. Adjusting the speed and temperature also affects the behavior of the material. I hope you get a good one printed! 😊

Also try changing the layer time, it can affect the result.

my fellow military buddy that worked on f-16's loved it the way it printed and i had glued together. the red and purple was the two colors of his deployment squadrons so it all worked out having it split! thanks for the model!

Hi, and thanks for the commenting! Good question! I think most official approved foodsafe filaments are PLAs, but others too. You should check specs before using.

From what I've read, the ridges present in 3d printing (even if not visible) will harbor bacteria and can be very hard to clean. This is likely more of the issue can the material type. But even the material isnt the only factor as it passes through multiple parts of your printer which could contaminate it and the color in the plastic may not be food safe. This is just my understanding and I would love to learn a process for food safe printing, but best practice seems to be to not use printed parts for food.

Thank you for the comment! Really good points here! I wouldn't start selling printed items as food safe. If you make parts for your own use, you take responsibility for the use and you can minimize the risks by keeping the process clean.
