Description

A Mario light box from the Super Mario Bros. franchise designed in Fusion 360. There is the main body which is printed face down at a .2 layer height, then the back panel which is printed face up at the same layer height. The back panel has two cutouts for the USB-C connected to power the internal LEDS as well as a switch to turn the lights on and off. Links for the USB-C connector, Switch, and LEDS I used are below.

Prints Fine. in my opinion the „Wall“ to the light is too thick. its 1mm so your source of light has to be quite powerful. as you can See in the picture the Dark Brown of the Shoes does Not let light through.

@Peter S. The diffuser component can be removed to reduce the total thickness to 0.6mm. This is also completely dependent on the filament you are using as I've used browns that completely block light and others that allow a nice luminance. I've had good luck using mostly Sunlu products.

So I don’t have any pictures of this particular model’s wiring, however I have a picture of a different model that uses the same basic wiring. You’ll wire the positive from the input to the switch, then the other leg of the switch to the positive of the LED. the negative of the input will go straight to your LED negative.

if the led light strip use the usb A how did you hook it up to the ubs c or how it get it power? i see the usb c only have 2 wires that connect to the on/off switch but how are you powering the led strip?

The two wires from the USB-C plug are positive and negative, the positive goes to one pole of the switch, then the other pole of the switch goes to the positive of the LED. the negative wire from the USB-C plug then goes to the negative of the LED strip.
