Description

I created a number of filament swatches using the python scripts and openscad generator by @markusdd and wanted to save some people the time of doing them from scratch.

I made some tweaks to the Python code and JSON files found on his GitHub to meet my specific use cases. This is a quick and fast project to create a library of samples for filaments used with colors needed for HueForge painting, etc.

If you find value in this please Like and post a Make - thanks!

For a box to hold your samples in, the original version by Zahg contains a number of versions all of which fit these perfectly.

Currently there are cards made for filaments from the following (some are aff links):

Each swatch has the following:

  • Color Name
  • Nozzle Temp
  • Hex Color Code
  • Manufacturer Name
  • Material Type
  • Opacity windows

I generally create a swatch for every new color/manufacturer I purchase and will update here as well

Printing Instructions:

On the X1C/P1P/P1S, you can print four cards to a bed using the standard 0.20mm profile, and to make it fast and less flushing of the poop, set the slicer to print by object (see screenshot below):

Import 4 of the STLs at a time into Bambu Studio (or Orcaslicer), Select the colors for each card from the AMS and hit Arrange Objects (see below). This will ensure you have no collisions when printing by objects:

Configuring the print this way prints much faster and reduces flushing volumes drastically. The 4 cards above are 19.23g for the model, 0.72g flushed and prints in ~38min:

Amazing swatch option. I went overboard and did 50 of them. Thank you!

I can't seem to find a way to implement folders for the various samples -- other sites I managed them by brand - may have to split these out into separate pages by brand or something ... until then - there is a big ol' zip file with everything in it Let me know if you have any issues/questions in the mean time 👍🏻
