Description

I am redoing all the flooring in my house with Luxury Vinyl Plank fooring. I did all the treads of the stairs as well. When I got to the top landing the standard practice is to use a transition strip or, if lucky, a special made top tread.

I wanted a seamless experience for the flooring though. I ended up modifying the top tread so that the plank would fit under it without the transiftion strip. If you want more details on this let me know.

One of the problems I had was that the tread was thicker than the planks and if I wanted it to be flush to the planks it would not work with the standard 5mm underlayment or even with no underlayment. I ended up designing a part that stepped up the underlayment to be even with the plank. The holes are there for the construction adhesive. You can use nails or staples to attach it to the subfloor.

It worked out perfectly for me but your mileage may vary. If the dimensions match it should work. Specifics below.

Flooring: Cortado Oak Rigid Core Luxury Vinyl Plank - Cork Back | Floor and Decor

Tread: Cortado Oak Rigid Boxed Retro Tread- 48in. | Floor and Decor
