Description

3d miniature of Shanghai, China!

Model created in Blender using the Blosm addon.

Check out my collection of other miniature cities: https://makerworld.com/en/u/1935755220/collections/146964

Printing & Slicing Details

This model was designed to be printed with a 0.4mm nozzle and 0.16mm layer heights.

Try using a 0.2mm nozzle (0.08mm layer heights) or scaling up for even finer detail!

Note: If roads or other small details disappear after slicing, try lowering the extrusion/line width of external perimeters (outer walls) closer to 0.4mm OR use Arachne walls (can also enable “Detect Thin Walls”).

Framing Details

This model measures almost exactly 6.7in by 4.7in (170.5mm X 119.5mm) and should fit most 5x7 frames (assuming frame lip/overlap is around a quarter inch). Feel free to change the scale/size of the model(s) to meet your needs.

Personally I use these cheap frames from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C8HY7YSQ

And blue printer paper: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00006IDQT

I also included a fully printable frame (including a 1mm thick water plate) designed to fit all my miniature cities.

Gif of the Printable Frame

A frame is not required! This model looks great by itself and can be displayed almost anywhere.

The model is very detailed. Please be careful when viewing the Oriental Pearl Tower as it is fragile and breakable.!! (Mine has been broken. It makes me sad.)

There is a tall building that should be in Dubai instead of Shanghai

Yes it seems there's a mistake on OpenStreetMaps where Shanghai Tower is replaced by Burj Khalifa, I don't know why lol. I manually fixed my model to show the right skyscraper. If you see any other issues, please let me know! It's tough to find detailed data for some of the Chinese cities, so spotting errors can be tricky. I'll update the post pictures tomorrow. Thanks!

天津。。。。。。。老外一般就知道北京上海香港,喜欢历史做商贸的知道西安,广州,疫情以后武汉,喜欢熊猫的成都。基本99%的老外说不出这以外的城市了

Printed on an A1 Mini 0.4 mm nozzle with 0.16 mm layer setting. Shanghai looks incredible in white PLA. Excited to try Manhattan and Hong Kong later today, and I'd like to try out and see if my 0.2 mm nozzle will show even more building details. Looking forward to printing out the midwest cities and framing them as well. This is one of my favorite themes, and I hope we get to see even more metros. Many thanks.

Glad it worked for you! Also be sure to post pictures if you try your 0.2mm nozzle, I bet it would look incredible!
