Description

A nicely horrifying addon ornament for the Halloween Wreath - this is an Australian Huntsman spider. Included are two models; one with web string and peg insert intended for the wreath design, available from my uploads, as well as a stand-alone model for pranking friends and loved ones. No glue or supports are required. Both have bendable poseable legs for that classic “wall tarantula” stance. If using the print profile, you can split the model in Bambu Studio and delete either model you don't require.

The Halloween Wreath branch design is available here

The default model is "Baby" sized but can be scaled to a full grown adult beast if desired.

Australian Huntsman spiders are known for their camouflaged hirsute bodies, long legs and tremendous speed. They strike fear into young and old alike - lurking on bedroom walls or behind car sun visors. Ironically, apart from the potential to induce cardiac arrest by dropping onto an unsuspecting shoulder or face, they are completely harmless to humans.

Standard Australian Huntsman sizing nomenclature:

Baby - 10cm (4”) leg span
Saucer - 15cm (6”) leg span
Dinner plate - 25cm (10”) leg span

This model was created in Blender using a HueForge model from a source photo as the starting object. A Boolean modifier was applied to remove the HueForge background, leaving just the spider shape. Proportional editing of the body was used to add a more rounded contour and the leg joint vertices were dropped on the Z axis to allow for “posing” of the PLA filament after it has been printed. The model was painted in Bambu Studio using a few variable height bands of brown and black filament.

The models are printed flat with no supports and are intended to be posed after removing from the print plate. The peg for the wreath should be twisted to face in the opposite direction before inserting into the branch.

The thin leg joints and web are somewhat fragile so care should be taken when bending them. Repeated bending will eventually cause a stress break.
