This is my remix of the classic herringbone planetary gears. I added the same herringbone pattern on the inside to the outside of the model and it makes a much cleaner print and a much cooler toy.
I've printed these in tons of different color combinations, and I encourage you to try one color for the outer and inner gear, and a second (or third) color for the six interior gears.
A single color version should take about 50g, 2.5h. A dual/triple color version should take about 6-7 hours.
A triple gear alternating color print (named HERRINGBONE PRIME CUBED) should take about 6-7 hours with 30g of each filament if you calibrate low purge amounts.
I recommend setting:
bottom and top patterns to Octagram Spiral
Infill: 20-30%, lighter will spin faster and easier
3 wall loops
Seam: Aligned, which should hide it within the herringbone pattern and make it almost invisible
If you're printing with silk colors like I do, outer wall speeds should be >100mm/s. I use that as a default for an excellent surface finish with any filaments though.
