Description

Update: Amazing 11 panel collection done by Superus and also dozens of new panels are available in this collection

Model

I wanted to have a lamp that can be customized and changed while having a futuristic and modern look. The base model has a pattern that achieves an optical illusion as you can see in my Assembly video here. It's very simple with no glue or extra hardware.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBAowd_ECU0

I created this futuristic looking lamp with swappable panels that can be remixed with all your favorite characters or patterns. I will be adding more panels and will try to make custom panels upon requests in the comments. (New Dragon ball inspired collection released! https://makerworld.com/en/models/35292#profileId-32809 )

I will upload the raw STEP file of the panels as a separate project for the community to remix as they wish.

Print Instructions.

I have uploaded a 3mf files with the recommended settings and pre supported

Main structure:

Extremally low amount of support needed (Painted support)

Layer height: 0.2

Infill: 5%

Walls: 2

Bottom/top layers: 4

Panels with built in light diffuser:

The right panel has a built in light diffuser that is modeled as a separate object which can be changed in the slicer to a white filament using the AMS or by adding a pause and changing filament without an AMS.

This type (Panel with built in diffuser) can accommodate more complex designs since the design does not have to be a continuously connected print like the example on the left.

First layer width: 0.55 ( to make sure that the 2 layers of the diffuser stick together well)

Layer height: 0.2

Infill: 5%

Walls: 2

Bottom/top layers: 4

Panel without diffuser:

Very simple to print. Only requires the diffuser to be printed in vase mode separately. only one diffuser is needed for all 3 panels.

Layer height: 0.2

Infill: 5%

Walls: 2

Bottom/top layers: 4

Diffuser:

Print in vase mode with 0 bottom/top layers.

It will work perfectly even if its not printed perfectly straight. like this wonky example here.

Hardware:

Only 2 parts are needed

1: A power cord with a e27 attachment like the one i got here for 4 euros

this attachment has a thread diameter of around 39.3 mm and an outer right of around 44 mm.

The whole in the lamp is 40 mm so you just need the included cap to secure it.

If you have other sized cords please let me know so that i can release more hole sizes.

2: A multi color bulb. I got one from a local store here for 4 euros but you can find them anywhere. they come with a remote or an app. I prefer the one with a remote like the one here.

Just getting ready to print the main base piece as the first print of your design. The base alone says 10 hours (using Cura Slicer), vs the 4 hours it shows here. Does the website generate these times, or are they what you manually entered? I'm not using a Bambu, but it shouldn't be 2.5x with my Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro. I'm following your suggested thicknesses, walls, top/bottom, and infill and running at about 90 mm/sec.

No the times cannot be entered manually. These times estimates are taken directly from the 3MF file that i uploaded to Maker World. This screen shot shows the sliced file for my P1P. you can see the speed and strength setting there. so these times show the estimate for the P1P and the X1. Unfortunately for you Bambu lab printers are a lot faster. so this time is accurate for Bambu printers. It takes that long because the walls are textured and the printer has to slow down for all those turns.

I would suggest removing the "built-in" supports. If someone wants to use them, let them choose which ones they want to use. I had a hell of a time removing the supports and 99% of them failed to print properly. Maybe this is because you designed this for the Bambu or because they just failed. But I'd say to leave them out of the design because then you are forcing users to use them.

Very cool idea and model. Just it is hard to get a picture of working lamp. So showing best I could get. One thing. I found (for me) it looks a bit better when I put some paper diffuser around lamp inside as it is too bright even when dimmed down

This is a great and very pleasing design. it has some art nouveau aesthetics aspects to it. Maybe thats why I like some of the images. the modular designs, is always a win ;)
