Description

This is my latest Vice “The Non Violator Vice” which hopefully shouldn't break any Rules.

I used the BambuLab brand name on some earlier models to merely state how good the model was printed with the X1 Carbon not for brownie points and with the latest BambuLab announcement today it looks like this is now frowned upon, so that won't happen again.

This is probably not my best vice yet(or is it)

My previous vices of this nature carried some flex on the screw drive, which caused the slider to lift under pressure, this vice eliminates that with an internal guide for the slider.

On the previous version's I found that with the threaded parts there was very little tolerance which meant a tap and die had to be used to ease the threads but it still could have been better, I found out how to off-set the face of the threads using the free to hobbyist design software which I use, anyway it now makes the screw action a lot easier straight off the print bed, this is all a learning curve don't forget, so things can only improve as we go along.

The build process for this vice is to insert the slider jaw into the main body and ensure it runs freely within the guides( I had to sand the areas which run in the guide rails, where the print support was used, the end cap can then be inserted into the main vice body and glued into position using CA Glue or epoxy resin or what you have to hand, once the glue has set then partially screw the screw drive into the end cap, the insert can now be fitted onto the end of the screw drive thread using a 5mm Allen bolt, tighten this up and then screw the screw drive in until the insert is within the slider and the recess on the insert is in line with the threaded hole on the slider, a 5mm Allen headed bolt can now be screwed in just enough to enter the recess on the insert allowing the slider to be retracted when unscrewing, the same as my previous vices of this nature.

The thing I couldn't do on this vice is to provide some screw holes to secure to a bench, a way round this would be to glue it to a piece of wood and screw that onto a bench, something like that anyway.

Update and to avoid any confusion, the 3mf file is missing the slider jaw for the vice, you will find this in the RAW Model Files as I printed in separate with it needing supports.

So there you have it a vice which I believe is an improvement.

Thanks for Looking.

came out beautifully I did have to reprint the sliding jaw because I forgot to add support but that was my fault

The Vice looks great, glad it turned out well and you get lots of use out of it as well, I've got a new design now for the sliding jaw which eliminates the need for support.

Hi, I know what you mean. that piece is in the RAW files as I printed it separate as it needs supports, sorry for any confusion.

yeah man. I had the same issue. The jaw that moves, isn't there. no worries. let us know when you get the chance.

Needed a vice to glue two parts together, and this one works perfectly 👍

thanks for the vice, I'm happily using it with electronics, not afraid of shorting anything 👍
