Description

Modular subdivider for Bambu Lab-filament spools

This filament spool subdivider drops into Bambu Lab-spools to allow storage of three different types of filament in one spool. This is an efficient and useful way to store leftovers or samples of filament of up to about 250g.

This remix is reverse engineered and redrawn from scratch from @giuliolibrando's Bambu Lab Modular Multi Filament Spool.
The most important features of this remix are:

  • Fixation holes in the rim of the spool, allowing filament to be fixated without using a filament clip/stopper.
  • An angled insertion/attachment hole for fixing the filament when winding up filament, allowing for crusty and brittle filament to be wound without the end snapping off. This also holds the filament better, as with the normal hole, there is nowhere for the filament to go.
  • A slightly larger spool diameter, fitting better with the edge of the bambu-spool (allowing for slightly more filament).
  • Inclusion of the raw model-file (in Fusion360-format) with easy-to-edit parameters.
  • Fixed the locking-tab not being centered, causing wierd-looking-ness, if the subdividers are not oriented the same.

Assembly

The two halves of a subdivider screws together and is slid onto an empty Bambu Lab spool (without the cardboard part).

Please see the original model for very cool assembly instructions HERE.

The remixed model is compatible side by side with the original model, but they can not be screwed together with the original halves.

If the threads are too tight or too loose, you can try adjusting the thread_clearance in steps of 0,010 - 0,005mm.

The halves might need to be screwed forwards and backwards a few times in order to run easily.

Print Settings:

The subdividers in the images are printed without support from 'Dutch Filament (MCPP) Light Grey ASA-X' at 0.23mm layer height with a 0.4mm nozzle on a Bambu Lab X1C. In order to improve the quality of the threads, the model is printed with variable layer height set to 0.25 (Quality / Speed-slider)

top pour 3 chutes de fil le système pour mettre le fil en début est très bien... mais (il y a toujours un mais 😬) pour fixer la fin du film ce n'est pas du tout évident 🥵 malgré une bonne idee

Thanks for the rating! I am working on a rework that makes fixing the ends easier. Stay tuned!

This didn't work for me on the 3 x 1/3 dividers; the leadscrew travels too far to center to use on the spool closest to the gears, and it travels too far towards the gears to use the spool in the middle.

this profile printed very well in Formfutura ReForm rPET. also the female threading printed flawless.

The modified design works great! Only the print profile is not so great. The internal thread is not printed cleanly.

Thanks for the nice words. What material are you printing from? I tried to make one from PETG, and the threads were really bad. When printed from ASA the threads are fine and only needs a little love to screw together.

I used the Bambu Lab PETG Basic with my filament settings.

threads went crazy I am sticking to the model with the shim. Unclear what went wrong as this is my only failed print in my last 100 prints easy. Thanks for the model hope it gets tuned a little better.

same thing happened to me, the threads strung across the center, the profile doesn't reflect the comments here either :(

good model I think, but second plate should be changed to a different wall order such as infill/outer/inner to print the female threads accurately

Hi! AeonJoey has just released a part for the Pastamatic Respooler (Found here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/16606) That supposedly allows you to respool 1/3 and 1/2 dividers. I have yet to try this, but you can find the model here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/385483. Let us know if it works!
