Description

I bought a pack of cable clip to use with a new POE camera system I installed. They're garbage. They don't stay shut, only hold 3 cables, and use crap adhesive.

I designed my own. Prints with no support, base size can fit 4 POE Cat6 cables, sturdy clasp, and scaleable. The model was designed with scaling in mind to suit specific individual needs. Need more height, scale it Y. Need more cables, scale it X. Have wider double sided tape, scale it Z. Base dimension are, roughly, 38x20x13 LWH for the interior cable retaining area.

There are 2 models. A solid back version and one version with a screw hole. The solid back is meant to be used with double sided tape as shown in the pictures. I tested a few kinds. The best that I tested was from 3M for outdoor applications that had red peel. The next best was, again, 3M double sided tape meant for office applications. It came as .4" wide with a beigue peel.

Tested using PLA, PETG, and ASA. I prefer PLA for indoor applications; eaiser to print and fully functional. For outdoor applications, PETG or ASA is the choice. The ASA version retains the best properties; flexibility to open wider than PLA, repeatedly open/close cycles, UV rated, stronger than the tape, better purchase for a screw.

Printed and tested 50-150% scale with good results. The 50% needed the latch to be popped using an exact knife. I ran it along the clasp at half depth, flipped the clip and finished the other halve. Watch the seam location. Next time I will paint the seam so the slicer dose not generate the seam at the latch point causing it to bond the 2 parts. The uploaded 3mfs has the seam painted accordingly.

Base tolerances are .3mm. Scaling up will increase that tolerance. Scaling down will decrease the tolerance. If you want a giant or tiny version which scaling is not working to create, comment and I will see if I can adjust to meet your need.

Update: I increased the size of the through hole for the screw version so more types of screws can be used.

I love the simple yet effective design and that I could print a bunch on one plate quickly. I also appreciate the hole you added for teh screwdriver, which can also double as a spot to run a small cable!

Thanks for the support. I never though of using the screw through hole to route a cable out. Nice thought.

Nice design and I like the simple printing. In PLA they're a little stiff to open at first but once you get a hang of it not bad. Now just need to get time to organize my cables...

Glad you like. I have been using them around my place and work. If you get the right double sided tape, it can route washer machine water lines. The screw version is also good for high stress holds.

Nice print, good quality, works well in PLA. Perfectly rigid and flexible at the same time. I’ll be printing more for sure.
