would have preferred for the writing layer to be thicker, some minor imperfections/mixed color

The font is perfect for the type of sign it is, but not great for printing especially in the smaller sizes (I can't imagine serifs ever working particularly well). Printed with the given settings at 100% with a 0.4mm nozzle it doesn't look great (this was with Bambu matte PLA filaments). I might try it at 125% which is about as big as can fit on the bed. The photo is after I've cleaned it up a bit with a knife.
