Description

🙏😊💬Quote from user feedback: "…finally a design that is minimally invasive and works well all the time, does not fall down during operation, without danger of destroying LED and without having to stick some constructions on the first-stage-motors with double-sided adhesive tape!"

⚠️Working on this complicated model takes a lot of time and if you like my work and want to support me and this design - please BOOST this design (click on the small Rocket 🚀 or „BOOST“ button) 🙏👍 Thank you in advance!🙏

! Please take bed adhesion very seriously when printing these little helpers, use 3DLAC OR GLUE STICK if necessary, BUT not BRIM, if you will nice Logo quality! In my printprofile the color sequence is set so that the logo color is printed first in order to get very nice, sharp contours. When BRIM is switched on, Brim will also be printed in LOGO color and unsightly marks will be left on the edges !

Important! This is a remix version of Perfect Fit Bambu Lab/Bambulab AMS Feeder Button Cover Protector for the new revision of AMS feeding funnel. There are several reports that such AMS units arrived to users from 08.2023. Please check the thickness of AMS Funnel Buttons before printing the covers! If the thickness is more than 1mm (should be about 2mm thick) - then take this version. If it is about 1mm thick - then take the original here or here.

IMPORTANT! Pay attention to the thickness of PTFE tubes - unfortunately they are very different!

My model is designed for 4mm +/- 0.05 PTFE tube!

Bambu Lab X1 AMS Feeder Button Cover/Protector - stiffer version! - what is that good for?

I have read some reports that the abrasive filaments "grind" the feeders from AMS (which are themselves from the plastic) very quickly! And this problem may affect the loading and unloading filaments !

I found an interesting feeder cap at Printables (thank you, Maverick Ng, for sharing your model!) and reconstructed it so that the cap sits very stable on the feeder and can still be easily pulled on and removed. Look at Installation-Video on my Instagram Channel - its very easy! :-)

This is the stiffer version - the jaws are 0.4mm thicker than the “normal” version, as you can see in the first two pictures: gray - normal edition, red - stiffer edition. If you printed “normal” version and the protectors should still fit too loosely - then is the stiffer version is the right one for your AMS feeder! ;-)

With the 10mm long PTFE tube in it, the feeders are now well protected! For printing of really abrasive filaments - take better 30mm PTFE tube - then PTFE inserts are rubbed off more slowly, as short one.

Print / Install Instructions:

  • place them with the logo on the build plate
  • first layer line width: 0,35 (0.4 mm Nozzle)
  • first layer speed: 10ms per second (for perfect look of the button-surface)
  • 2 perimeter, 4 top/bottom layer, 20% infill
  • take better PLA/ASA - they are stiffer, for better hold on the feeder
  • print layer height: 0.16mm and WALL generator: Classic (in this case please no Arachne) !!!
  • It is helpful to swith your Bambulab Printer from “Standard” Speed to “Quiet”!

Cool recomendation from User SHAYDED (Thank you! :-): “If you are struggling with sagging, move the parts closer to the aux fan, orient the overhang towards it, and crank it up to 70-100%”. I had no problems with sagging (just printed 4-5 of them at once and slow), but why not? :-)

Take a look for Video/Post about this model on my instagram channel: https://www.instagram.com/eds_3d_shop/

!!! Please take a look at this video, here you can see how you can easily get these protectors on the feeder properly!

⚠️IMPORTANT!⚠️ You don't need to disassemble your AMS or remove any parts!

YouTube Video: Installation and removing of „Eds Perfect Fit Protector for BambuLab AMS Funnel-Feeder“

Short and cool description from User SpectreGadget : “Push forward with the back of the cap against the lever to snap it in place. Then line up an press firmly down to get over the existing inlet, until it snaps in place.”

Please look at these pictures - good example of correct installation 👌😊👍

This little helper is so nice! Not only protects the AMS but my fingers as well. Those little feeder buttons are so much easier to press with this! Love it

Just received the printer and instantly looked into upgrades and the seem to fit perfectly and I understand the concept and concern. I bet they will work great and improve my prints in the long run! Thanks for the update!

Really good idea. I had these fail once while printing. They didn’t seem to clip on very tight. After about five prints in which they popped off every time and tangled in my filament role, I’m throwing them in the trash. It looks like plenty of others have had good luck with them. but they seem to do more harm than good with my experience with them experience.

Hi! I’m really sad to hear that.. Did you see the installation video? You can see there some small but important steps for properly and tight hold on the feeder.. Could you make some pictures of the installed AMS protector on the feeder? 🙏👍

edit: initially, I didn’t think these things clipped on very tight and stayed put. After talking to a friend of mine, who recommended I print these off, he emphasized that it takes considerable force to click them into place. after a second try they seem to click into place better with more effort and have stayed secure for the handful of prints I’ve tried since.
