Description

I designed this two new Banana Filament Clip and Cucumber Filament Clip because I have never liked locking the filament on the spool by bending it inside the holes and the various clips to be placed on the edge must be always removed before placing the spool in the AMS.

I have published various solutions for fixing the filament on the internal side of the Bambu Lab spool, but when you have a new spool there was no place to place them.

This versions can always be used, it locks on the holes where the filament was originally inserted and there is no need to remove the clip when the spool is in the AMS because it does not prevent the spool rotation and does not interfere with the filament when unrolling.

The only thing to keep in mind is that the yellow "Banana" clip can only be used on the right side of the pool (otherwise during rotation it will touch the left guides inside the AMS), while the green "Cucumber" clip can be mounted on both sides, because it is thinner. On the other hand, "Banana" you will always print without any problem, while "Cucumber", which has a smaller contact surface with the printing bed, needs a little brim. However, I recommend also mounting clip on the right side, I don't think it will make much difference for you and your AMS will thank you!

Since many of you have not perfectly calibrated the flow-rate (and not just the linear-advance), in my print profiles you will find two/three different slot diameters, so you can use the best for you.

What if you have a Hatchbox spool? No problem, there is also the specific profile!

For one spool the normal design didn't work. So I was happy to print the 3 different sized to check for the correct one. I have one suggestion, why you don't print the letters S, M, L also on the back of the cucumbers? Then the user knows, wich one fits when more are needed. Like on my picture, but a lot nicer!?

You're right, and you're not the first to ask me: as soon as I have some time I add the light to each cucumber, it's the best solution!

Hi @HB_3D , Thank for your Boost. If you use original Bambulab filament (or other brands as long as it is well calibrated) the Medium version is the one that suits best. In any case, when you have found the ideal one, delete the others and save the file for any future prints.

These are awesome! Print quickly and connect straight to the bambu spools.

Hi, thanks for your report. I confirm that with these small models PETG is less "easy" than PLA but as you have seen in the end you can print well.

I removed the brim and it printed without problems on the textured PEI bambu plate (X1C). They are a bit hard to clip onto the spool (yes my printer is calibrated and even set to underextrude a bit), and cannot go all the way in (this is the updated version from 18. december). But still great and really enjoy them. Is the filament meant to be slid into the slot (fed into from the end) or snapped into (from the side)?

Hi, thanks for your review. I confirm that with the textured pei plate the brim is not necessary because it has excellent adhesion. To fit the clips you have to press hard, otherwise sooner or later they will come off (the hole on the spool is conical and the only way is for the clip pin to deform a little when entering it to remain stuck). You can also insert the filament from above, but it is easier to insert it from the side.

Nice non-obtrusive design. I like that unlike other solutions, these stay attached to the spools and shouldn’t get lost. Added size labels in the slicer so I wouldn’t get them confused after printing.
