This is a small part that I have created to allow the Bambu Lab AMS Lite to be able to accept filaments that would otherwise not work with the system!
This works by using the screws that hold together the extruder assembly to also attach a small printed lock which disengages the extruder motor from being able to engage with the filament roll.
The filament that is then loaded on the AMS lite spool holder is considered an “external spool” to the printer, enabling you to run filaments like TPU easily! After usage, it can be easily taken off and used as a normal AMS lite spool holder with it's built in extruder system.
This part has been tested many times by me and should not fail. I also have had no problems feeding TPU through the AMS Lite with this disconnect system and have achieved very good print quality.
I hope this helps users that don't want to use an external spool for their non-AMS filament!
