Description

The Hubble space telescope, the largest single big metal tube currently in Earth orbit, has been gazing into the cosmos since 1990, taking some of the most influential photographs of our time. The first in a new series of model kit cards I am working on, a fair bit more detailed than past projects.
This has the original solar panels, and can add the replacement gold panels at request, I just like these better!

Coming up next: Euclid deep-space observer! (or that other funny lookin' Dorito one)

There are no instructions of this model, but each part is numbered in order of assembly, and there are clues on the parts themselves. So go slow, don't pop every part out at once, and have fun!

===================

Included is a Frameless variant for those uninterested in the sprue card format (refer to photos for assembly help). There is also a small test piece for those unsure about the flex joints, of which I have no problem printing both on Enders and a P1P.

If the fit is too tight, I suggest setting outer walls to print first in your slicer.
You can make it EVEN TIGHTER by increasing the Z-scale by 15%.

Print at 0.2mm layer height, there really is no benefit from printing at a higher resolution and it could affect the fit.

Makes greatly appreciated, always glad to see them! Happy Printing!

I did not have a good result with this one. I did a manual line re-calibration after on my (new)p1s, but should not have had to. I'm hoping that fixes the issues I ran in to. However, I needed to move on to another print model. Great concept design though. Hopefully I have a chance to come back to this one later in the week.

Wait when you did a "line" calibration you mean flow factor / k? what value did you end up with? is there any chance you missed 0 i.e. 0.2 instead of 0.02? For reference the profile I ran was also on a p1s, sunlu pla+, flow ratio .9875, k .025

@uberroot I'm not going to end this here, but I updated the rating for now, and will come back because I really want this to work out. I found out that DH ordered PETG due to OOS on BL-PLA, which I sadly assumed was what I used in error. As soon as we dry out the PETG, I'm going to re-print, and post an update for you. I'm also going to try a second run with copper silk in lieu of the yellow petg (which I initially ran). As a request, I'd love to see a dual sided panel card with copper/yellow print option. Something like the Brittanica image: https://cdn.britannica.com/31/1331-050-582781A6/Hubble-Space-Telescope-cargo-bay-space-shuttle-February-1997.jpg Thoughts? This is a version I plan on printing, but right now, the option you have set up is for single sided color blue/grey. What do you think?

Thank you for the model! Updated the plate to work on the mini, then changed up some of the colors to make it stand out. Looks amazing.

Nice model and print profile. It doesn't show the blue and red only because the filaments I use for those colors was not opaque and i replace the gray by a mat black filament. Can't wait too see it assembled.
