Description

I designed this Spool Adapter for the Bambu Lab AMS for my Inland cardboard spools, since none of the other adapters currently available fit it properly. This design utilizes the holes of the carboard spools to help lock the adapter in place as well as an anti-slip lip at the top (prints without supports) that will prevent the adapter from coming loose inside the AMS. I exported this as a high quality STL and as a result the curves on the outside have no flat edges and will spin easily inside the AMS. The model only uses 12g of filament.

Orientation of the holes does NOT matter for this model. You may use both the top and bottom sets of holes.

Works perfect! Bought a Bambu with the AMS at Microcenter. I bought filament at the same time but was unaware that the machine required plastic spools. These adapters got me up and running. New to 3d printing and this was my second print after the benchy. Thanks!

These fit great but when bending the bed to release them caused the edges to pull apart a little.

You should wait for the model to cool before removing.

Solid model, snug fit but not overly tight. I noticed on the first roll I tried it on that not all holes on the filament roll are positioned exactly the same(not the models fault). It didn't fit in one set of holes but spun it around and it fits fine.

Great Print for some of the Inland Spools. Sadly it doesn't fit all Inland Spools because of size differences. I can't nor Won't blame the creator for something out of their control. I wish Microcenter would standardize their spools even if they come from different suppliers as the large spools don't fit in the AMS (Or at the very least tell us which one is the largers and smaller spools so I can avoid the Large ones).

if you DM me some pictures I can try and get ahold of the different spools. I don’t actually have a microcenter near me but I’ll be in a city with one next week

It doesn't really matter. They can't be run in a standard AMS anyways (might run in a Hydra AMS though can still run with the top open as well). They are too Large. I've notice it mainly in PLA+. can still DM you Images though.

Pritned 6 so far, and more in progress. Great model and fits MOST of inland spools. From my tests I see they use two types of spools: thin cardboard (2.7mm; used for PETG) and thick (3.5mm; used for PLA/PLA+/TPU/ABS). This model fits the thick spools perfectly, but it's a bit loose on the thin versions. These have a radius of ~1mm less than the thick ones.

very annoying that they have two different variations. I suspected this. sorry that some are problematic for you. I would buy more from microcenter but I don’t live anywhere close to one and the upcharge for shipping is just too much to justify. thanks for the info.

No worries! Let me know if you need any more measurements. These overall fit great, the best out of all models I found :)

Works great going forwards. Going backwards I get a failed to pull back filament error every time.
