Description

Fed up of poor lighting on your P1P or P1S? Then this might be for you

This plate replaces the stock Light diffuser and allows for fitting of a 5v COB LED strip instead which can be powered off the stock light connection or wiring (if you have patience and can get the correct JST connector off ebay or aliexpress then no changes will need to be made to the stock wiring

Simply remove the stock light and pop off the diffuser (clips along top and bottom of the diffuser)

Disconnect its connector underneath and install the newly printed plastic insert complete with COB led strip

Wire it up to stock location and reinstall

Printed from PETG

Warning - pay no attention to the official wiki on the procedure for light removal, this mod is very intensive for a P1S. Door, front plate, back plate, cooling fan, and side plate all must be removed. Whatever you do don't try to remove the camera as per the wiki, its plastic clip will detach at mach jesus and forcibly remove its own cable. The mod itself though, great. 10/10 love the brighter print chamber.

Hey, i have a question regarding your usage of a different led strip, you stated that it uses the same voltage but how about the amps? I was planning on doing the same approach regarding the usage of the native plug (That way i can turn it on and off via software) but i am scared that i may fry the board by pulling too many amps with a longer led strip. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

the led strip i used is rated at 7watt per meter i only used 14cm so about 1 watt of leds which works out at 0.2amps which is perfectly fine the full meter is 1.4amps off the usb connection when i had the full strip and the xtouch screen running off the usb it struggled to power both but the strip on its own was fine and the shorter strip is even better if you go with it as its plenty bright compared to the original
