NOTE:

• Please read the instruction guide below.
• Download the 3mf file if you are using a Bambu slicer. Download the stl if you are using other slicers.
• These use the thumb cover for Nintendo Switch. It may or may not work with thumb covers from other controllers.
• I do my best to double-check and test the print profiles I created. Therefore, I will only take feedback and update for those profiles. I cannot vouch for profiles uploaded by others, so please do due diligence.

INTRODUCTION

The toolhead on the Bambu Lab A1 mini has a window and the wheel turns during extrusion and retractions. I realise it can be removed and personalized with a window button (I call them window buttons). Initially, I designed a series of these buttons, but due to the size, it will require a 0.2mm nozzle to print finer details. The A1 comes stock with 0.4mm nozzles. and not many will buy a 0.2mm hotend just to print these buttons.

I then noticed that the silicone thumb cover from the Nintendo Switch is the right size, and there are so many different designs available to choose from. In fact, you may have a set of these covers with you at the moment. Hence I designed an adapter button to install these thumb covers to the A1 mini.

INSTRUCTIONS

• Download the 3mf file. The settings are prepared for printing PLA on an A1 mini. If you are printing on a different printer, please make the necessary changes to the settings.
• There are 4 buttons on the build plate. It takes around 15 minutes to get them printed.

• Wrap the thumb covers over these buttons.

• Remove the Toolhead cover. Please be gentle. Wait for the hotend to reach below 49C so that the hotend fan is off. Bambu Lab wiki to know how to remove the front cover.
• Remove the stock button.

• Install the button, do not force it in. If the hole on the button is too tight, change the setting of “X-Y hole compensation” on the Bambu Slicer and reprint. Different filaments and printers have different tolerances. Some tuning might be required.

• Install the toolhead cover and check that the window button does not press against the clear window.
• Heat up the hotend to the required temperature of the filament and extrude to check if the window button turns properly.
• Enjoy.
