the ironing messed up the finish, and lack of tower made the colors mess up a bit.
The designer has replied

I reprinted the bookmark without ironing and the same flushing volume. I think ironing is necessary for a clean finish. However if you still have problems try it w.o. ironing and more flushing volume or even with a tower.

came out great! aside from a few very minor details which are most likely the fault of my lack of patience and putting it on max speed.
