All Credit goes to Steven Bennett for creating such an amazing project that inspired me to remix and post here. I hope you enjoy the project as much as I do and you support Steven any way possible.

If you have always wanted the Dyson LightCycle, but couldn't afford the $600 price tag, then this project is for you! The DIYson Express is a lamp that brings the motion system and convince of the Dyson LightCycle within reach of any creative maker for a fraction of the cost. It supports a rechargeable usb-c light and is fully balanced on the motion track so you can rotate, exteend, and raise the light with ease with no locking needed. it is capable of being perfectly balanced for multiple different types of lights or objects that you want within reach while not taking up too much precious desk space.

The DIYson Express, created by Steven Bennett, can be built in an evening and works as perfect as you want, with customizable parts and files all available via Steven's Github page!

I was so inspired by this project that I just had to make my own! I remixed the light head to support 2 round magnets I had laying around from building the Lack Gridfinity Drawers.
It is usually fixed to the corner of a table with a C-Clamp, but that was too far out of reach for me so I also modeled a desk mount to secure it to the center of my workstation table. I added 4 L shaped brackets with 2 v shaped ribs to each side with 2 m5 countersunk holes for mounting directly to the table with m5 countersunk screws.

The DIYson express is the more approachable, completely customizable variant of the DIYson project. The Express is constructed from a simplified parts list which includes an out-of-the-box lighting and electronics solution. Check out the project video above for a full overview.

Sometimes the hardware costs can really add up, especially if you don't have the smaller M2 and M3 screws already on hand. For example; the M2 and M3 screw assortment normally costs $15.99USD, but the Express only requires 8 of them. That's about $2USD per screw. No good. To help with this, Steven put together a "Hardware Booster Kit" which includes the highest cost-per-part components and can help reduce costs by up to $50USD. Check it out here: https://stevenbennett.gumroad.com/l/vseqv (note that you will still need a bunch of components found in the parts list, but all of them have a more reasonable cost-per-part and/or are logistically difficult to be include in this kit).

Parts List

Here is a list of the parts needed to build the DIYson Express. The booster kit can be ordered by visiting Steven Bennett's link here: Steven Bennett's DIYson Express Booster Kit.
