Description

Please consider casting your Boost coupon if this model/design helps you, and don't forget to press the like button. Many thanks!

Makerworld has significantly reduced the download/print points awarded to designers. Instead, they have introduced the "Boost" coupon, which you can apply to models that may not be the most popular (already gaining points from downloads and prints), but are useful or meaningful to you in general. This supports and encourages us, the "losers" (those not focusing on popular themes like Star Wars, car keychains, countless airless balls, etc.), to create more useful or niche designs.

Looking for a future-proof calendar? A calendar to pass on from generation to generation in the family? This hexagon-canister-shaped futuristic calendar will cover you!

It includes the usual numeric and two potential future-dominating languages: Chinese characters and Klingon, in case the empire takes over the alpha quadrant. Kapla!

To build, you will need to print:

  1. The hexagon canister outer shell and the twist-snap cover which holds the LED strips or pixie lights.
  2. One set of the numerical decagon of your choice (common, Chinese, or Klingon).
  3. Two spacers to separate the day, month, and year digits.
  4. Caps for covering the numerical decagon and spacers.

***(Items 2-4 are printed in vase mode.)

To build:

  1. Remove residual glue from all parts, especially the decagons; this will determine how smoothly you can turn each individual digit.
  2. Cover all the decagons (both numeric and spacer) with a cap. You can glue them if you see fit, but they will be fine without.
  3. Insert each of the decagons into the canister. There are two protrusions for twist-locking the assembly; carefully avoid them when inserting the decagons.
    1. For both numeric and Klingon decagons, insert in the sequence of “date,” “month,” then “year,” with spacers between them.
    2. For Chinese, there are four different decagons; insert the four identical “一” to “十” decagons for the year, the decagon with “正,” then the one with "月" for the month. For the date, first insert the “初” and then the “一” to “十” decagon.
  4. Insert an LED strip or pixie light through the hole from behind the cap and fixate it on the rod.
  5. Insert the LED strip-attached rod by aligning the cap to the canister and twist (unidirectional) to lock or unlock the cap.

Just turn the digits every day, and this calendar will last for thousands of generations!
