Description

This enhanced design comes with several notable modifications:

  1. Two-Part Frame Design: The frame has been split into two sections to:
    • Achieve a more uniform outer wall. There were previously issues around the height of the inner details, likely because the walls cooled as the printer focused on the interior. You can see the problem in the image with different colored prints. The frame on top is my remix.
    • Reduce overall print time by applying varying print speeds for the exterior and interior.
  2. Improved Light Diffusion: The interior has been printed with white PLA, enhancing light diffusion.
  3. Cost Efficiency: This design optimizes cost in two ways:
    • Using more affordable materials for the interior.
    • Shortening the print time.
  4. Optimized LED Strip Guides: I've trimmed the height of the LED strip guides inside, saving both material and print time.
  5. Battery Holder Addition: A custom battery holder and cover have been incorporated, tailored for this specific product on Amazon: Link *. The holder is designed to be affixed near the duct.

Thanks to the design modifications, you'll likely require no more than 2 perimeters for the outer frame and a single border for the inner section, ensuring optimal strength without any risk of light bleed-through. I've adopted a 10% cubic infill for both components and am very satisfied with the outcome.

Bundled with the battery powered LED lightstrip (Amazon: Link *), you can create an impressive lithophane.

Beyond the self-adhesive backing provided with the LED strip, I typically reinforce each row with hot glue to ensure they remain securely in place. This quick, one to two-minute step grants an extra layer of stability and peace of mind.

Interior piece the LED strip adheres to is far thicker than needed. Otherwise, this is a nice lithophane frame.
