Description

The Z-Axis Rod Dust Cap is an essential 3D printed part for owners of P1P, P1S, X1, and X1C 3D printers. This small but significant component is used to cover the end of the Z-axis rod, preventing the accumulation of dust, fibers, and other particulates that can interfere with the rod's motion and lead to wear and tear over time.

Usage:

  • The dust cap should be placed at the top end of the Z-axis rod where it is exposed to the environment.
  • It is designed to fit snugly, so it stays in place even when the printer is in motion.
  • Regularly remove and clean the dust cap to ensure it remains effective.

Recommended Colors:

  • Black for the main body to match the printer's aesthetics.
  • Green or any contrasting color for the logo or design on the top, which adds a personalized touch to your printer.

Additional Information:

  • When printing, it is recommended to use a material that is slightly flexible, like TPU, to ensure a good fit over the rod. PETG can also be used for a rigid cap, but ensure accurate measurements for a snug fit.
  • The cap's design includes a logo or symbol, which is not only decorative but also serves to make it easier to grip when removing or placing the cap.
  • No supports are generally needed for this print, making it an easy print for beginners.
  • Make sure your print bed is leveled for a clean, flat bottom surface that will sit flush against the printer.

This 3D model is a practical addition to your 3D printer setup, combining functionality with an opportunity for customization. It's a simple yet effective way to keep your equipment in top shape, ensuring that every print comes out as intended.

Printed well, but they don't really attach nicely on top of the bearing. Some kind of lip would hold it in place better (X1C)

the piece looks nice; not necessarily convinced it’s a good fit for protecting the upper bearings

These printed OK but did not sit in pockets. may need scaling or post processing, but I don't know as I ended up printing covers that cover entire assembly and not just bearings.
