How often has your Roku remote gotten lost in the cushions or disappeared on the floor in your darkened living room? How many times has the dog or the baby gotten hold of the Roku remote and tried to install SlingTV or Disney+ by pressing the advertising buttons?
Here's the solution!
This case enlarges the Roku remote to make it more difficult to fall between the cushions or under the couch. It can be printed in bright colors (or even glow-in-the-dark filament) to make it easier to spot wherever it has landed in your dark entertainment room. It also has a hole to attach a leash if you really want to make sure it doesn't walk off.
There are two versions of the cover available: standard that has all remote buttons exposed, and alternate that has the four “advertising” buttons covered up so that they can't be accidentally pressed. The housing and cover capture the remote in place using six M6 x 12mm long screws.
This fits the two different Roku remotes I have: ca. 2019 remote with “square” corners and ca. 2023 remote with more rounded corners (see photo for the difference between the two.)
NOTE: After I came up with the idea for a Roku remote case that makes the remote more difficult to lose, I found "The Ultimate Dad Remote!" by gmbradfield on Thingiverse. His design gave me a couple of ideas, but since the purpose of his was different than mine, I consider mine an original design. In any case, I wanted to give him credit for his concept.
19-MAR-2024 UPDATE: I found that the buttons were a little harder to reach with my finger than I liked, and the mute button was too close to the case housing, so I revised both the cover and housing. Version 2 has a larger opening for the volume and mute buttons and the cover is thinner to make it easier to press the buttons. Since the cover is thinner, be careful when installing the M3 x 12 screws to not strip out the threads.
