Description

First, congratulations to Nigel Buckle, David Turczi, and the Mindclash team for this incredible game. It checks all of my big, heavy, space game boxes for both solo and co-op play.

This insert took my brain by storm. The game trayz do a commendable job for about 75% of the components, but between the lids, house trays, and borderline depths for sleeved cards, getting it tabled and boxed can take a significant amount of time. Knowing that it can't live forever on my game table, I set out to create a partial insert to work in tandem with some of the trayz already found within the box.

Samples shown were printed on 0.4 nozzle, 0.2 layer height, 15% infill. Total estimated filament with these settings is 1491g / 500m. There is no lid lift, though if storing vertically I recommend placing one of the rulebooks or icon list above the top component trays to ensure everything stays in place.

Update 10/14: I split two of the larger objects to make them accessible for smaller print beds. The Event/House/Barrier tray comes in two flavors, connected and unconnected, with the connected version providing a little more stability while stored in the box.

You will need to print: 2x token trays, 1 of everything else (unless using pieces for smaller print beds).

To simplify board/mat management, I kept the large, clear tray and used this as the bottom layer. I also kept the 4 player trays and 2 ship trays. The rest of the components needed to be easily accessible and ready to place on the table. I tested multiple ways to store Tech and Fallen House / House starter cards, and the easiest solution was to simply separate them into smaller stacks listed alphabetically.

For the circular ship bases, place the initial ones into the slots upside down to allow for full use of the vertical space.

Voidstorms fill in the tunnels under the Event and House cards.

The Tech Tray nestles in underneath the Agenda board during storage.

Also included is an “extras” tray, which can store pre-constructed Corrupted and Corvette fleets to ease setup.

I use a set of 3d printed bounty and reclaim tokens on the map so I can pull a random tile from the tray when one is acquired. The 3d tokens were shared by Alex K on BGG, found here: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/3147307/storage-houses-general-loot-tokens-crisis-card-hol

The Voidfall playmat is a custom print, you can find the backstory for it and file here, thanks to Nathan Flannery: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/3139783/printed-galactic-playmat
