3D model description

Excellent visibility, supports fairly heavy loads.
Size: 150mm
Antenna: diameter 5 mm
Stem: long for stability
Weight: 2.3g, relating to post print finishes and infill
Buoyancy and solidity: excellent.
Add silicone float rubbers.
Many fishermen prefer plastic to balsa or foam because it loads the line more. Matter of taste!

If you have already printed something that must be watertight or airtight (like a vase, a float) you know that it requires perseverance and special settings for your slicer and your printer. But this is entirely possible with an FDM 3D printer, and very functional at that.

My models are designed for FDM 3D printing. They are designed to meet the specific needs of fishermen. They are designed/printed/tested several times in real fishing situations until optimal results are obtained.

3D printing settings

To be waterproof and tough, walls cannot have a thickness less than 1.2 mm and with a minimum of 3 layers.

Infill: 0 to 5% maximum (personal at 0%). Recommendation of 100% infill on the last 5 cm of the keel to balance the float and improve its hold in currents or 100% infill on the entire keel.
Filament: PETG is both strong and flexible, clear is perfect for floats.
Nozzle: 0.4mm nozzle is maximum.
Layer height: 0.12mm
**Slicer: **the float must be printed flat with support
Here's how I do it, you'll get just as good results with your favorite settings!
Applying a scaling factor: not recommended
Post-printing processing and finishing:
The float can also be painted and/or varnished to gain visibility. The varnish can fill any holes, reinforce hardness and guarantee watertightness. As a reminder, 3 coats of varnish are recommended as a finish.

The 3D printing tests of this float were carried out on a well-tuned ENDER3PRO with a PEI, to prove to as many people as possible that my models do not need the technology specific to the latest generation 3D printers to be perfect.
If the printing is excellent on an ender 3, it will also be excellent on your printer!
