3D model description

Interested in architecture? Discover this VOLUME digital model of a remarkable contemporary architecture in the Grand Est region of France. The VOLUME model highlights the volumetry and form of this architecture. Have fun printing it out to better understand and appreciate it, and we hope it will inspire you to visit!

The Jossermoz sports halls were built following a competition launched in July 1964 by the French Secretary of State for Youth and Sport for the design of model sports halls to be installed throughout France, and feature genuine architectural and technical qualities. The specifications set by internationally renowned architects and the involvement of Jossermoz in the development of an innovative mixed-use structure explain the durability of these buildings and their success. To date, at least 23 halls have been identified, demonstrating the duplication of the prototype throughout France and its importance in the history of sports facilities. The halles Jossermoz illustrate the diversity of A. Wogenscky and L. Miquel's work, despite their reputation as part of the modern movement. They illustrate the many hats that Wogenscky and Miquel wore in the course of their careers, and in particular their dual experience as consulting architects for the French Ministry of Youth and Sports, and as architects for the Annecy-based Jossermoz company. Thanks to their apparent structure, which combines economy and aesthetics, the Halles Jossermoz can be counted among the great technical and formal successes of the 1960s in the field of sports facilities. The Aiguillettes building in Villers-lès-Nancy is in an excellent state of preservation, with most of the original materials preserved. In the Grand Est region, another Jossermoz HJ2 gymnasium has been identified in Mulhouse.

In 2023, the Gymnase des Aiguillettes was awarded the "Remarkable Contemporary Architecture" label by the French Ministry of Culture for works less than 100 years old. To date, the Grand Est region of France boasts around 200 buildings graced with this label created by the law of July 7, 2016. A collection that highlights architecture as a living practice.
