This is an idea that came to me while I was cruising MakerWorld. I kept seeing the different light boxes, and granted this one doesn't have the profile like some of the others that I've seen. But I thought, why not have an interchangeable cover? This way I can print the base once and interchange the actual lighted portion to my liking/mood.
The NXN logo is one that I created for my son, Nixin, who has Down Syndrome (the characters hair are his actual 3 21st chromosomes from his karotype test, thought it was pretty slick to incorporate that so yes, I am bragging). Now, I would love it if other people printed the same one and his name and logo grew across the world… But I really only uploaded these items as an example to show you what you could do with your own text, logo, shape, etc…
The trick here is to always have the back of the face printed in black so the light doesn't shine through. In order to do this, you clone your image, text, logo, and change it to a negative part. I have them being printed in 1mm thicknesses, with the overall thickness of the face set as 2mm. I also uploaded a face that prints half white, half black. Again, this is to show that the face doesn't always have to be black, just the backside. I have an example that is currently on the printer now that I may upload in the future, however, that one is borderline inappropriate for the masses.
The base itself incorporates a holder for the Bambu Lamp Kit. I am still working on a revision to do a better job of wire management, but again, I wanted to get this out there into the MakerWorld.
