Description

***UPDATE: V2 is out now.***

V2 fixes a flaw with the stacking that I found where the first model stacked staggered. The new version will still work with the old version in case you printed the original the old one will not stack properly on top of the new version though.

9mm ammo box featuring a unique magnetic sliding lid design, designed to optimize functionality and convenience. This model securely holds 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition but also offers versatile features for practical use.

(Magnets used are the same as gridfinity uses 6x2 mm Round and you will need 6 of them. They are press fit but if you are worried about them coming out a dab of super glue wouldn't hurt.)

Key Features:

  • Magnetic Sliding Lid: The ammo box is equipped with a sliding lid mechanism utilizing magnets for secure closure. This design ensures easy access to ammunition while providing reliable containment during transport or storage.
  • Space-Saving Functionality: The lid can be flipped upside down and magnetically attached to the box, conserving table space when in use at the range or during reloading sessions.
  • Stackable Design: A ridge on the top of the lid seamlessly interfaces with the bottom of the box, allowing for stable stacking of multiple boxes. This feature maximizes storage efficiency and organization in any setting.
  • Versatile Application: Ideal for firearm enthusiasts, shooting range time, and anyone reloading 9mm

The design looks great and well thought out at first. Unfortunately, I have to say that it is not usable in practice. The holes for the cartridges are 0.8 mm too large, so that they can only be stored in reverse. Otherwise, they are very wobbly. OK, the designer probably intended it that way, but it's impractical to remove the bullets like this. The closure by means of magnets is too weak. The can opened in my pocket and some bullets fell out. This is dangerous, because you can lose cartridges and that must not happen under any circumstances. In addition to the weak closure, you need 6 magnets, which means additional money and effort.

The design was intended for the bullets to be stored primer down I can tighten up the holes for the opposite way but .8 would be too tight I’ll have to do some testing but I’m thinking .5 would be a good place to start. As for the magnets none of my boxes have any issue with coming open with 3 pairs of magnets. Again if you’d like I can increase the number but I’ve been using the boxes for a while now and never had the issue of them coming open in any bag.

Hello, I think it's really nice that you got in touch and are interested in improving it for users. Basically I think the box is really good, but: A bag moves and there can be pressure from all sides. Only a proper lock would solve the problem. I measured it precisely for myself and came to 4 mm, which would have to be reduced in width. In my opinion, magnets are not a safe solution.

glad to see you liked it. I have seen a flaw in the stacking unfortunately. I will be pushing an update out shortly to fix it the current one stacks fine you just need to stagger them back and forth. They will still allow for the new ones to stack onto of them the old ones will not however stack on top of the new ones. Sorry for any inconvenience.
